Where do you get all your ideas for recipes?
I get most of my ideas from things I eat or see on menus and cookbooks. My friends also throw out ideas all the time and write them down to use as well. I also love taking desserts and recreating them as other forms of desserts, like pies into cupcakes.
I’ve compiled a huge list of ideas and try mixing and matching techniques I’ve done from other recipes to come up with something new.
What type of camera and lens do you use?
Where do you bake and take all your pictures?
I currently bake and take all my pictures out of my kitchen in San Francisco, CA. Typically, my pictures are taken in the dining room, since the bay windows allow a lot of light in for my photography.
You bake so much, who eats everything you make?
Honestly, I don’t eat too many of my baked goods. By the time I’m done making the recipe, I’ve pretty much tasted every bit of the ingredients to make sure they taste great by themselves and together as a whole, so I’m kind of sick of the sweets by the end.
Mostly my roommates, coworkers, and friends enjoy my desserts. I’ll bring a batch to work and share them out. And when all else fails, my boyfriend ends up eating a bunch of them too.
Are you a trained baker and do you blog as a full-time job?
I’m not classically trained as a chef or baker and do this as a hobby of mine. Baking has always been a passion of mine because It brings me a ton of enjoyment when I finish a dessert.
Blogging is just as much a hobby as baking. Normally, I’m a product designer, creating user experiences on the web, but my creativity really thrives on making desserts!
